Rachel, Laura and Sheila met at Braywick Heath Nurseries, and all wished we had our shorts on, as the temperature is definitely on the up! First task, before it got too hot, was to go through the glasshouses and deadhead the plants and remove any that were struggling. Sheila and Rachel also moved some pots of Alstromeria from the polytunnel to the sales area at the entrance. When that had all been completed we did some hoeing to remove weeds in the gravel in the outside sales area. Another good morning's work!

Fantastic work! I've got Alstromeria on my shopping list. I better get in there quick!

Braywick Heath Nurseries regulars Laura, Rachel and Sheila were joined this week by Jenny for her first ever Goodgym task. Welcome! Our first task was to pot up some mesembryanthemum plug plants which were outgrowing their tray and needed rescuing! We planted a dozen or so into each pot, and left to establish. Before long they will be a riot of colour. Then we moved on to planting up some bulbs and corms which had started to sprout in their packets. We look forward to seeing them once they have grown. Before we left, Ben showed us round the nursery - there have really increased their range of plants, and they are hoping for a bumper Bank Holiday weekend

There are still lots of plug plants at Braywick Heath Nurseries that need planting up into 6-packs, so Laura and Sheila got straight down to business. We filled up several trolleys worth of plants, and Kate took them off to find bench-space for them. The nursery is looking fantastic, with a greater range of plants than ever before, so well worth a visit

Today's task was a hanging basket special! Rachel, Laura and Sheila were using 'speedplanters', ready planted up with colourful mixes of annuals, and dropping them into hanging baskets with extra compost. And it really was speedy - before long we had 46 beautiful hanging baskets ready to be sold After a quick tea break we returned to one of our favourite tasks of planting petunias into 6-packs. A satisfying morning's work

It was lovely to welcome first-timer Mel to Braywick Heath Nursery this morning, who joined Laura and Sheila for our regular session. There was plenty to be done - the trays of plug plants were all lined up , waiting for us to transplant them, either singly in pots, or in 6- or 12-packs. A satisfying morning's work, with Ben the nursery manager impressed with how much we had achieved. It was great to meet you, Mel, and we hope you will be back when time allows!

Rachel, Anna, Laura and Sheila went to help out at Braywick Heath Nursery. Rachel and Sheila were asked to fill pots with compost.post and plant up with little plug plants. Meanwhile Laura and Anna were given the task of washing the outside of some large pots to make them more attractive for sale. Once they had finished that, they came to help Rachel and Sheila. A satisfying task, helping the nursery get the annuals ready for sale. They have really expanded their plant range - worth a visit!
