Woking Junior parkrun #262

Woking Report written by Kirsty Raynes

Run Director/Woking GGโ€™s James was feeling nervous at 8.58 this morning as only a handful of children had arrived to run the 2k circuit today.

By 9 am 176 children were surrounding the bandstand ready to hear his welcome speech and begin the pre-run warm up led by a group of their peers.

At 9.13 176 children were on their way with 4 other GG Woking volunteers cheering them on. Becky, Katie, Kirsty and Mel enthusiastically carried out their marshal roles maintaining the runnersโ€™ safety and ensuring every participant had fun - None other than a Woking GGer can smile, encourage, clap, cheer or high five with such aplomb!

We look forward to doing it all again next weekโ€ฆ โค๏ธ

Double Task Wednesday ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿพโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฝ๐Ÿ’จ

Woking Report written by Wayne

This evenings task was to carry out a deep clean at the foodbank but then a last minute request from a local charity to deliver leaflets to highlight up and coming martian race

On this beautiful evening Wayne, Nadia, Kirsty, & James met at Woking leisure centre. Katie ran from home and met us at the foodbank. Julie also met us at the foodbank as she came straight from work. Adam who is currently nursing a injured ankle which happened during the Richmond 1\2 marathon walked to the foodbank Hats off to him ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

James brought along a ruck sack which had over a 1000 leaflets which Kirsty volunteered to put on for the first half of the run (Up until we got the the hills ๐Ÿคฃ). While running we were hearing about Nadia recent trip to Singapore it sounded amazing. Once we got the the first hill Wayne took the ruck sack and continued running up the hill to the foodbank. When we arrived we met the rest of the gang along with Allison who gave us our tasks.

Nadia, Adam, & James were on sweeping & hoovering duties. Kirsty was giving the shelves a good wipe down, while Julie & Katie were following behind with the mops. Wayne was doing a littles bit of everything ๐Ÿ˜„.

in no time we had given the whole place a deep clean and the place was looking and smelling fresh. We took our customary photo on the famous stairs said our good byes and headed off to the apartment blocks to deliver the leaflets for te up and coming Martian Race ๐Ÿ‘ฝ. With James knowledge of all the blocks we managed to hit the first block which had 76 letter boxes. After that we went to the 2nd block were we did another 124 letterboxes. In total we did 442 apartments which was pretty good going ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

Once we finished we headed back to the leisure centre and said our goodbye's.

This Sunday we have two tasks. Volunteering at Junior Park Run And The All Aboard club building the big train set. We have reached the max amount of volunteers for the All Aboard but plenty still needed for park run.

Next Wednesday we are running to the All Saints Parish Church In Woodham. We will be meeting at WWF by the steps along the canal.

See you then. ๐Ÿ˜„

Sunny Junior Park Run โ˜€๏ธ

Woking Report written by Wayne

On this beautiful warm morning Wayne, Kirsty, Lauren, & Rebecca carried out various roles at the junior park run.

Kirsty brought young Jack with her today for his first ever park run. Jack did amazingly well & hope he becomes a regular park runner ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ

This mornings run we had runners from a local school who took over all things park run. In total we had 185 runners with the fastest time an amazing 07:30. There were also 52 PB's, well done to everyone.

This coming Wednesday we are are running to the food bank in town to give it a deep clean, hope to see some of you there, enjoy the rest of your weekend ๐Ÿ˜„.

Sorry for above comment which was supposed to be posted elsewhere ๐Ÿคฃ (available for IT support). Jnr Parkrun is always rewarding, some great running by the youngsters and I spotted a few potential future GG Woking members. Jack had a lovely time and is excited to run again soon. Thank you all for being so supportive of him on his first ever run. He and his Mum are very appreciative. โค๏ธGGโค๏ธ

What The Hill.. ๐Ÿ˜ค

Woking Report written by Wayne

**Yesterday evening we carried out a leaflet drop around the local area for Woking & Sam Beare Hospice & Wellbeing Care to highlight "Go Grab Life Work" A memory walk & celebration whilst raising funds for hospice care.

It was a beautiful evening ๐ŸŒž Wayne, Kirsty, Katie, Julie, & Adam all met at Woking leisure centre.

It was great seeing Adam back as well. Katie had run 6k from home while Wayne, & Adam ran 12k between them.

We headed off to the dreaded hill at the back of the park we split up into two teams and started at the bottom and targeted them letterboxes. In no time we had got to the top of the hill minus 50 leaflets.

We then hit a few of the side roads, before coming down the second hill. by the time we had got to bottom we were down to our last few leaflets.

We headed back to the leisure centre hitting a few houses on route.

Good luck to Adam who is doing the Battersea Half on Saturday & then the Richmond Half on Sunday. ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Next Wednesday we are at the Food Bank carrying out a deep clean. Hope to see you there. ๐Ÿ˜€
