Kathryn’s 40th birthday Run

Norwich Report written by Elizabeth H

What a glorious scene greeted you as you entered Catton Park this morning, the Grounds staff had mowed walkways through the Park. Unfortunately the only part not mowed was the start run so it would be a wet footed start! Goodgymer Kathryn was celebrating her 40th birthday! YES 40 I’m sure she’s really 30 ! her family were also running/walking in celebration & her brother (from Lowestoft ) was first through the finish in celebration I'm sure. Lots of first time parkrunners join us, it’s so good more people are enjoying the benefits of getting outdoors to improve their wellbeing, so good to see and hear them enjoying do so. Goodgymers attending today, Rob R Rob O,Rachel , Katie L, Panda Dave, Alina, Roisin & birthday girl Kathryn. we also celebrated Goodgym Susanna 51st deed today, enjoyed your black 50 t shirt when it arrives. picture is from last week your actual 50th deed! Well done everyone

Spreading the Punure (Manure)

Norwich Report written by Steven Hitcham

This is probably one of my worst puns but heyhoe!

This evening we returned to Somerleyton Gardens to spread some manure over the vegetable patch, lay some more bark on the paths and erect a little boarder fence.

It was a great end to the bank holiday weekend and was followed by a trip to a local pub, not The Bell for once!

Keep your phone dry

Norwich Report written by Elizabeth H

267 people braved the heavy drizzle today for Cattons Parkrun including 2 first timers, well done for turning out, and we had 6 tourists to. I was Timekeeper today, never good in the rain, you must keep the phone screen dry, to avoid droplets interfering with the numbers! and a wet screen can add numbers! Today we tried out umbrellas on stands to keep us dry, result it works. Bobby was on disco corner with his maracas, fresh from off shore, welcome back. Goodgymers running today Alina and Roisin. Well done everyone

A litter picking river-lation

Norwich Report written by Woody

Organised by local groups, the litter picking group was quite large, with a good amount of good gymers bolstering the team.

Good Gymers got stuck in and found lots of litter to pick, filling up more than a bag each getting into hedges and pulling out lots of cans and bottles from the river side. The group expected about 30 full bags in total from litter picking on Anderson's Meadow, but that amount was exceeded quite considerably, making the already lovely area even more enjoyable in the future.

Sofa glad it wasn't a heavy one!

Norwich Report written by Emily

A great mission to help Miss M get her sofa down from her second floor flat into a shed ready for collection.

Woody and I got the sofa down four sets of stairs while Bobby did a fantastic job as client happiness manager (i.e. he had a chat with Miss M) 😉

The sofa was much lighter than I anticipated which was a lovely surprise, but it was still a good workout! Now Miss M has space for a nice new one.

We forgot to take a photo of the sofa before it was locked in the shed, so here's me and Woody pointing at it through the window!

Barking up the right tree

Norwich Report written by Steven Hitcham

It was a great task this evening as we visited Somerleyton Gardens again, this time to lay some new paths with wood bark (and no, thats not Woody pretending to be a dog).

Half of the gang were digging up the grass for a new section of path while the other half of the gang were pulling up grass between wild flowers, where the rest of the bark (woof woof) would be laid.

Each time we visit we make a great impact on Somerleyton Gardens, I need to find some old photos of our first ever visit to do some comparisons.

I love the group photo underneath the tree full of blossom.
