One GoodGymer, Rachel, helped clear up after the Bags of Blessings Spring Fair on a Saturday afternoon.
The fair was still in full swing on arrival, but once the all-important raffle had been completed people started to head off, leaving plenty of tables, chairs and gazebos to be stacked and folded.
Bags of Blessings are a fantastic charity which distributes donated gifts to deprived young people in the Nottingham area, and we hope to work with them again at more tasks in future.

What a fantastic morning!
We were part of a huge team helping to transform the school's massive play areas and open spaces.
Our contact Adele had one particular task in mind for us - moving some massive cable reels downhill to create a new playspace in a wooded area. Tom, Robert and our brand new member Andrew took care of the rolling while Rachel and Leah made sure the littlest GoodGymers were occupied and out of the way while tidying the remaining materials.
Next, we took some rubbish down to the bins (including tents!) and joined in with digging the sandpit, moving some very heavy metal picnic benches across the field, and shifting tyres and wheelbarrows full of the excavated soil up to yet another play area.
Definitely a firm favourite task for us all!

On a sunny Sunday in Nottingham, 3 GoodGymers headed to the Lindum Grove Community Garden to help Kathryn with some more jobs. Under the shade of a large willow tree (which was quite welcome on such a warm day) we worked on creating a dead hedge.
Thankfully this wasn’t Natalie's first dead hedge, so she took the lead in lining the hedge with stakes and showing us how to weave willow along the edges. After an hour we’d made a good start on the hedge, which will eventually form the boundary to a shady extension to the existing garden with benches and a picnic area.
We welcomed Helen to her first GoodGym task – lovely to meet you!

9 GoodGymers headed back to the Meadows Foodbank in Nottingham last night to help with a variety of tasks. It’s always a pleasure to visit this project and, as usual, we were warmly welcomed by Mark who set us to work with a shopping list of food to bring down from the upstairs storeroom to the shelves downstairs.
Meanwhile, some of us swept and mopped the floors and helped crush some cardboard for recycling.
After an hour’s work we stopped to enjoy a little cake courtesy of Leah whose birthday it was – what better way to celebrate that with a GoodGym community mission (and sorry we forgot to sing Happy Birthday at the end!!).
We were joined by Harriet, Alex and Juan on their first GoodGym session – we hope you enjoyed it and we will see you again soon!

Four Nottingham GoodGymers headed back to the Windmill Community Gardens on Wednesday evening to help with a spot of gardening. On arrival we met Lu who explained that our task was to clear a section of the garden at the side of the summer house which will become a paved area. The idea is that this will be a quiet space for visitors who want to take some time out and enjoy a moment of calm.
We spent an hour clearing the area of various bits of wood, pots, debris and weeds before levelling it out and smoothing it over ready for some slaps to be laid.
Thanks to Lu for hosting us and for the cup of tea which we enjoyed in a small bit of evening sun before we headed home.
